10 Best SEO Apps For Shopify In 2026 (Free & Paid)

Compare the best Shopify SEO apps for 2026. Review pricing, features, pros & cons, and the best tool for each search engine optimization need.
Best Shopify SEO Apps In 2026: Top 10 Tools (Free & Paid)

Finding the best SEO apps for Shopify is more confusing than it should be. Every listing promises higher rankings, faster pages, and magical one-click optimization. In reality, the right app depends on the gap you need to fill: technical audits, structured data, image compression, content optimization, or bulk updates across a growing catalog.

Shopify already handles several SEO basics, including editable metadata, canonical tags, and automatic sitemaps. Apps become useful when you need deeper analysis, ongoing monitoring, or automation at scale. If you are looking for the strategy behind these tools, start with the Shopify dropshipping SEO guide or follow this step-by-step Shopify SEO process.

In this roundup, I compare 10 Shopify SEO tools for 2026, including free Shopify SEO apps and more advanced paid options. For each one, I’ll break down its pricing, core features, ideal use case, pros, and cons. The goal is simple: find one app that solves your actual problem, not assemble the Avengers of SEO apps and then watch them fight over your schema markup.

Best SEO apps for Shopify

The best Shopify SEO apps do more than generate meta descriptions. Depending on the tool, they can audit technical issues, compress product images, add structured data, monitor broken links, improve indexing, or optimize hundreds of listings at once. The best choice is the one that addresses your store’s biggest SEO bottleneck without duplicating tools you already use.

For this comparison, I looked at each app’s current pricing, core SEO function, automation level, free access, and ability to scale with a growing catalog. I also considered whether its strongest features are included in the entry plan or saved for a much more expensive tier. Because, let’s be honest, “free” with every useful button locked is mostly useless.

Prices were checked in September 2026 and may change. Usage limits also matter: some free plans restrict products, pages, images, or AI credits, while “free to install” may still include usage-based fees.

🔍 Research Tip: Audit your store before choosing an app. If images are slowing it down, start with an image-focused tool. If Google is not displaying your prices, availability, or reviews correctly, investigate structured data. A clear diagnosis can save you from paying for a giant all-in-one suite when you only need one focused fix.

Plug in SEO

Plug in SEO Best SEO apps for Shopify

Plug In SEO is built for store owners who want to understand what is wrong before making any changes. It scans your Shopify store for missing metadata, broken links, structured data issues, weak keyword targeting, and other technical problems. Its main advantage is diagnosis combined with guidance: instead of displaying a mysterious score and wishing you good luck, it explains how to address each issue.

The app also includes keyword research, title and description management, redirects, structured data, and recurring SEO health reports. It is more hands-on than a set-it-and-forget-it optimizer, making it useful if you want to learn as you improve your store.

Key features:

  • Comprehensive SEO audits with issue alerts.
  • Step-by-step recommendations for individual pages.
  • AI-assisted keyword research and search trend data.
  • Title and meta description management.
  • JSON-LD structured data tools.
  • One-click broken-link redirects.
  • SEO and performance reports.

Pricing: According to its Shopify App Store listing, Plug In SEO starts at $29.99 per month for up to 200 scanned pages. The Standard plan costs $49.99 per month, while Premium costs $79.99 per month. All three include a seven-day free trial.

Best for: Existing Shopify stores that need a thorough technical audit and clear instructions, especially if you want more control than a fully automated app provides.

Pros:

  • Strong diagnostic tools covering several areas of SEO.
  • Recommendations are designed to be understandable for non-experts.
  • Includes structured data, redirects, keyword tools, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Higher plans accommodate large stores with thousands of pages.

Cons:

  • No permanent free plan is available.
  • Page scans, keyword research, and monthly audits are limited by tier.
  • It may feel expensive if you only need one function, such as image compression.

JSON-LD for SEO

JSON-LD for SEO from the Shopify App Store

JSON-LD for SEO is the specialist of this list. Rather than trying to compress images, generate blogs, audit keywords, and make you coffee, it focuses on structured data that helps search engines understand your products and business.

The app adds and maintains schema markup for products, prices, availability, reviews, breadcrumbs, articles, FAQs, videos, subscriptions, and other store information. This can make your pages eligible for enhanced search appearances, commonly called rich results. Eligibility does not guarantee that Google will display them, but correct structured data gives Google the information it needs to consider them.

Another differentiator is the service surrounding the software. The annual plan includes a structured data audit, ongoing monitoring, support, and training. This makes it closer to a managed schema solution than a basic plug-and-play generator.

Key features:

  • Expanded JSON-LD schema markup for products and content.
  • Compatibility with Google Merchant Center.
  • Integrations with more than 20 review apps.
  • Support for reviews, subscriptions, preorders, recipes, FAQs, and video.
  • Structured data audit and ongoing rich-result monitoring.
  • Automatic updates when products or themes change.

Pricing: The current App Store plan costs $399 per year and includes a seven-day free trial.

Best for: Established stores that specifically need reliable, advanced schema markup or have struggled with incomplete or conflicting structured data.

Pros:

  • Deep specialization in structured data.
  • Supports more schema types and commerce scenarios than many general SEO apps.
  • Includes audits, monitoring, training, and direct support.
  • Useful for stores with reviews, subscriptions, preorders, or complex product information.

Cons:

  • No free plan or monthly option is listed.
  • Its annual price is high for a tool focused primarily on one SEO area.
  • It does not replace an image optimizer, content tool, or complete technical audit platform.

💡 Pro Tip: Use one primary schema solution. Running multiple apps that inject JSON-LD can create duplicate or conflicting markup. Before installing this app or any all-in-one alternative, check what your theme and current apps already generate.

Smart SEO

Smart SEO shopify app store

Smart SEO combines metadata, image optimization, page speed, structured data, broken-link management, indexing controls, and AI content tools. It offers one of the most balanced feature-to-price combinations among the Shopify SEO apps in this roundup.

Its free plan handles basic audits, metadata, alt tags, sitemap controls, and a small number of images and pages. Paid plans unlock JSON-LD, page-speed tools, bulk actions, backlink reporting, multilingual SEO, and larger automation quotas. That tiered structure makes it easy to begin small and expand without immediately switching platforms.

Smart SEO has also added tools aimed at AI search visibility, including an LLM product catalog and integrations designed to help AI systems interpret store information. These features are interesting, but they should complement traditional SEO fundamentals, not replace useful product content and sound technical optimization.

Key features:

  • AI-generated metadata, alt text, and product descriptions.
  • Bulk meta tag and image-alt optimization.
  • Image compression and page-speed tools.
  • JSON-LD structured data.
  • Broken-link detection and automated redirects.
  • Sitemap, noindex, and IndexNow controls.
  • Backlink reports and multilingual optimization.

Pricing: Smart SEO offers a free plan. Paid tiers cost $14.99, $24.99, and $49.99 per month, each with a seven-day trial and progressively higher limits.

Best for: Small and mid-sized stores seeking broad SEO automation at an accessible starting price.

Pros:

  • A genuinely useful free tier for testing the interface.
  • Affordable entry-level paid plan.
  • Covers images, metadata, schema, links, indexing, and speed.
  • Multilingual tools are available for international stores.
  • You can scale quotas without replacing the app.

Cons:

  • JSON-LD and page-speed optimization require a paid plan.
  • The free plan includes 50 image optimizations and audits for up to 20 pages, while its broken-link checker covers up to 100 pages.
  • Its growing list of SEO, AEO, and AI features may be more than a simple store needs.

Booster SEO

Booster SEO App

Booster SEO is designed for sellers who would rather monitor a dashboard than manually optimize every listing. It continuously scans for SEO issues and automates tasks involving metadata, images, redirects, sitemaps, and structured data. Its strongest selling point is autopilot-style maintenance.

The free version provides an SEO score, alt-text templates, broken-link reporting, manual audits, and limited weekly image syncing. The Pro plan introduces automated fixes, metadata templates, rich snippets, and sitemap submission. Premium adds image compression, filename optimization, Search Console data, and bulk reporting. The feature set is powerful, but the most valuable automation lives in the paid tiers.

Key features:

  • Automated SEO monitoring and fixes.
  • Custom templates for meta titles, descriptions, and alt text.
  • Broken-link detection and automatic redirects.
  • Google structured data and rich snippets.
  • Sitemap submission and indexing support.
  • Image compression and filename optimization.
  • Search Console metrics and professional reports.

Pricing: Booster has a free plan, while Pro costs $39 per month and Premium costs $69 per month. Paid plans include a 14-day trial.

Best for: Busy sellers with a growing catalog who want ongoing SEO maintenance with minimal manual work.

Pros:

  • Strong automation for repetitive storewide tasks.
  • Free plan lets you evaluate its reports and basic tools.
  • Supports metadata, images, links, structured data, and indexing.
  • Pro and Premium plans do not impose the same small page quotas seen elsewhere.

Cons:

  • Most automatic fixes require the $39 plan.
  • Image compression is reserved for the $69 Premium tier.
  • Smaller stores may pay for features they do not yet need.
  • Automated metadata still needs human review for accuracy and brand voice.

Yoast SEO

Yoast SEO optimizator for websites

Yoast SEO is best known for its WordPress plugin, but its Shopify app follows the same core philosophy: guide the user through content optimization instead of making every decision automatically.

The app analyzes content around a chosen focus keyphrase, evaluates readability, suggests improvements, previews search and social appearances, and generates structured data. It also offers AI-powered title and meta-description suggestions, a bulk editor, and an llms.txt file. Yoast is particularly useful when content quality matters more than image or speed optimization.

Unlike some all-in-one competitors, Yoast does not try to solve every technical problem in one dashboard. That narrower approach can be refreshing, but it also means you may still need Shopify’s native tools or another specialist solution for images and broken links.

Key features:

  • On-page SEO analysis based on a focus keyphrase.
  • Readability analysis for product and editorial content.
  • AI-assisted titles and meta descriptions.
  • Automatic structured data output.
  • Search and social appearance previews.
  • Bulk metadata editing through import and export.
  • Technical SEO and llms.txt generation.

Pricing: Yoast SEO costs $19 per month or $190 annually, with a 14-day free trial.

Best for: Content-led stores and sellers who want clear, page-level SEO and readability guidance.

Pros:

  • Straightforward flat pricing with no product-based tiers.
  • Strong content and readability analysis.
  • Helpful for learning how individual pages can be improved.
  • Automatically adds structured data.
  • Recognizable interface and methodology for previous Yoast users.

Cons:

  • No permanent free plan.
  • It is less automated than tools built around one-click bulk fixes.
  • It does not focus heavily on image compression, page speed, or redirect monitoring.
  • Users must choose relevant focus keyphrases; the app cannot replace keyword research.

🆕 Beginner’s Tip: Choose guided optimization if you want to learn SEO. Choose heavier automation if you already understand the basics and mainly need to process hundreds of pages. The “best” interface depends on how involved you want to be.

Avada SEO

Avada SEO image optimizer for shopify

Avada SEO gives free users access to image optimization, metadata, basic speed improvements, structured data, alt-text tools, and limited on-page audits. It is one of the strongest free Shopify SEO apps for sellers who want to address several basics from one dashboard.

Paid users receive unlimited image optimization and on-page audits, more AI credits, stronger speed tools, redirect management, advanced structured data, XML sitemap controls, and robots.txt editing. This makes Avada suitable for stores that want to begin free and later consolidate several SEO functions into one paid app.

Its range is also the main tradeoff. Because Avada touches content, images, speed, schema, links, and theme settings, you should check for overlap with existing optimization apps before enabling everything.

Key features:

  • Image compression, resizing, and alt-text optimization.
  • AI-assisted SEO audits and recommendations.
  • Meta title and description tools.
  • Basic and advanced Google structured data.
  • Lazy loading and Core Web Vitals tools.
  • Broken-link and redirect management.
  • Sitemap generation and robots.txt controls.

Pricing: Avada offers a free plan with 100 image optimizations, 20 audits, and 100 AI credits. Pro costs $34.95 per month, while Enterprise costs $99 per month. Paid plans include a seven-day trial.

Best for: New or smaller stores wanting a broad collection of free SEO tools before committing to a subscription.

Pros:

  • Useful free features rather than an audit-only demo.
  • Combines on-page, technical, image, and speed optimization.
  • Supports bulk actions as the store grows.
  • Built-in checklist helps organize fixes.

Cons:

  • Free usage limits can disappear quickly on larger catalogs.
  • Broken-link management and advanced controls require Pro.
  • Its broad feature set can overlap with image, schema, or speed apps already installed.
  • The Enterprise tier represents a significant price jump.

TinyIMG

TinyIMG speed image optimizer for shopify

TinyIMG, formerly known as Tiny SEO Speed Image Optimizer, started with a strong focus on image compression and has since expanded into a broader SEO suite. It can optimize image size, dimensions, filenames, and alt text while backing up the originals. For stores carrying hundreds of supplier images, that remains its clearest advantage.

The app now also includes lazy loading, asset preloading, CSS and JavaScript minification, metadata generation, redirects, structured data, audits, and AI blog tools. However, access varies substantially by plan. The entry tier is still most compelling for image optimization, while advanced technical SEO requires a higher subscription.

Key features:

  • Bulk image compression and resizing.
  • Automated alt-text and filename optimization.
  • Image backups and pay-as-you-go processing.
  • Lazy loading, asset preloading, and code minification.
  • Broken-link detection and redirects.
  • JSON-LD structured data.
  • AI metadata and blog generation.
  • Search Console insights on the highest tier.

Pricing: TinyIMG is free to install and includes 50 image optimizations per month, after which additional images cost $0.03 each. Paid plans cost $14, $23, and $49 per month.

Best for: Dropshipping stores with large, image-heavy product catalogs that need repeatable compression and alt-text workflows.

Pros:

  • Specialized image tools backed by a broader SEO suite.
  • Low-cost paid entry point.
  • Original-image backups reduce the risk of bulk optimization.
  • Higher plans add useful speed and technical controls.
  • Scales to thousands of monthly image optimizations.

Cons:

  • “Free to install” is not the same as unlimited free use.
  • Additional image charges may apply after monthly allowances.
  • Redirects, automatic metadata, and code minification require the $23 plan.
  • Extended structured data and Search Console insights require the $49 plan.

💰 Financial Tip: Estimate your monthly image volume before choosing a plan. Count product images, variants, blog graphics, and replacement uploads, not just products. A cheap plan can become less cheap when every new supplier import brings eight more images to optimize.

SEOWILL

SEOWILL AI SEO & AI Blog Post

SEOWILL, formerly known as SEOAnt, combines technical SEO with AI-assisted content planning and production. It audits the store, identifies keyword and content gaps, generates blog posts, optimizes images and metadata, fixes broken links, and adds structured data. Its main differentiator is integrating research, content creation, and technical optimization into a single workflow.

The free plan is surprisingly broad, offering a full SEO audit, basic speed optimization, 50 image optimizations, an AI blog generator, a keyword planner, and Search Console integration. Paid plans add bulk metadata, more advanced speed tools, JSON-LD, redirects, performance tracking, competitor research, and internal-linking assistance. This makes SEOWILL especially relevant for sellers investing in organic content, not just technical cleanup.

AI-generated drafts still need fact-checking, editing, and a clear point of view. Publishing raw AI content at scale is not an SEO strategy, even when the generator lives inside an SEO app.

Key features:

  • Storewide SEO and content-gap audits.
  • AI blog generator and keyword planner.
  • On-page content and metadata optimization.
  • Image compression and speed tools.
  • Structured data and FAQ schema.
  • Broken-link redirects and internal-linking assistance.
  • Search performance and competitor analysis.
  • llms.txt support for AI discovery.

Pricing: SEOWILL offers a free plan. Pro costs $29.99 per month, and Premium costs $59.99 per month. Paid tiers include a seven-day trial.

Best for: Shopify stores using blog content and keyword research as part of their growth strategy.

Pros:

  • The free plan covers several genuinely useful tasks.
  • Connects technical SEO with content production.
  • Includes Google Search Console integration.
  • Paid tiers support bulk actions and larger image libraries.
  • Helpful for sellers who want fewer disconnected tools.

Cons:

  • Structured data and automatic redirects require Pro.
  • The interface may feel busy if you only want one narrow function.
  • AI-written posts and metadata still require careful editing.
  • Some Premium link-building features should be evaluated for relevance and quality before use.

For a stronger editorial workflow, pair the tool with a clear Shopify blogging strategy rather than publishing every generated draft automatically.

SEO Manager by Venntov

SEO Manager by Venntov Shopify App

SEO Manager by Venntov focuses on the infrastructure that keeps an established Shopify store healthy: metadata, structured data, indexing, broken links, redirects, and integrations with search platforms. It provides more granular control than many lightweight one-click optimizers.

The $9 Starter plan covers monitoring, search-result simulation, page and image optimization, structured data testing, and missing-page tracking. Higher plans introduce stronger metadata controls, out-of-stock redirects, automated enhancements, AI content generation, and advanced Google integrations. Its low entry price is attractive, but its automation is distributed across the more expensive plans.

Out-of-stock redirects are particularly useful for stores with frequently changing catalogs. Instead of sending shoppers and crawlers to dead product pages, you can redirect discontinued listings toward relevant products or collections.

Key features:

  • SEO monitoring and page scoring.
  • Search-result previews.
  • Metadata controls for products, collections, pages, and blogs.
  • Structured data testing and rich-search features.
  • Broken-link and 404 monitoring.
  • Out-of-stock product redirects.
  • IndexNow integration.
  • AI content and automation on higher tiers.

Pricing: SEO Manager starts at $9 per month. The Essential plan costs $29 per month, and Professional costs $59 per month. Each plan includes a seven-day trial.

Best for: Established stores needing precise metadata, redirect, and technical SEO management without beginning with an expensive all-in-one plan.

Pros:

  • Affordable $9 starting tier.
  • Strong redirect and broken-link functionality.
  • Useful controls for stores with changing inventory.
  • Supports metadata across multiple Shopify page types.
  • Higher plans add automation without changing platforms.

Cons:

  • No permanent free plan.
  • Automatic enhancements require Essential or Professional.
  • AI content generation is limited to the highest tier.
  • Less focused on bulk image compression than image-first competitors.

StoreSEO

StoreSEO

StoreSEO brings product optimization, keyword tracking, image tools, content generation, schema, indexing, and analytics into one platform. Its strongest feature is the connection between page-level SEO work and Google performance data.

The app integrates with Google Analytics and Google Search Console, letting sellers view search information alongside SEO scores and optimization recommendations. It also creates metadata, product descriptions, blog content, image alt text, structured data, FAQ schema, sitemaps, and llms.txt files. This combination is useful when you want to connect optimization work with actual search visibility.

StoreSEO organizes its plans primarily around product, image, keyword, and AI-credit allowances. The free tier covers 25 products and images, while the entry paid tier covers 100 products and 500 images. Those limits make plan selection especially important for dropshipping catalogs, which can grow quickly.

Key features:

  • SEO scoring for products and pages.
  • AI-generated metadata, descriptions, FAQs, and blog content.
  • Image compression and bulk alt-text generation.
  • Google Analytics and Search Console integrations.
  • Keyword tracking and indexing requests.
  • JSON-LD, FAQ schema, and local SEO.
  • Sitemap submission.
  • llms.txt and AI-discovery tools.

Pricing: StoreSEO has a free plan for 25 products. Lite costs $14.99 per month for 100 products, Essential costs $39.99 for 250 products, and Advanced costs $249.99 for up to 10,000 products. Paid plans include a seven-day trial.

Best for: Content-focused stores wanting SEO scoring, AI assistance, and Google data in one dashboard.

Pros:

  • Free plan available for small catalogs.
  • Combines product, content, image, schema, and analytics tools.
  • Direct Google integrations make performance easier to monitor.
  • Product-based tiers provide clear capacity limits.
  • Useful for stores targeting both traditional and AI-powered search.

Cons:

  • The free plan is limited to 25 products and 25 images.
  • Stores with 101–250 products require the $39.99 Essential plan.
  • There is a steep jump from Essential to the $249.99 Advanced plan.
  • AI credits and image allowances require monitoring as the catalog expands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Shopify have built-in SEO tools already?

Yes. Shopify automatically creates a sitemap, adds canonical tags, supports mobile-friendly themes, and lets you edit page titles, meta descriptions, URLs, and image alt text. These features provide a solid foundation, but Shopify’s native tools offer limited bulk editing, automated auditing, image optimization, structured data control, and ongoing issue monitoring.

What’s the best free SEO app for Shopify?

Avada SEO is one of the best free options because its plan includes image optimization, alt-text tools, metadata editing, basic speed improvements, structured data, and limited on-page audits. Smart SEO is another strong choice if you prefer a simpler interface, although important features such as JSON-LD and bulk optimization require a paid plan.

Do I actually need an SEO app if I’m on Shopify?

Not necessarily. You can optimize a small Shopify store manually using its built-in settings, Google Search Console, and an image-compression tool. An SEO app becomes more valuable when you have a growing catalog, need to update metadata or alt text in bulk, want automatic issue alerts, or need specialized functions such as advanced schema markup and broken-link monitoring.

How much do Shopify SEO apps typically cost?

Many Shopify SEO apps offer a free plan with usage limits. Entry-level paid plans generally cost between $9 and $20 per month, while broader automation platforms usually range from approximately $30 to $70 per month. Specialist and enterprise plans can cost $99 per month or more, while JSON-LD for SEO uses an annual $399 subscription rather than monthly billing.

Can an SEO app slow down my Shopify store?

Yes, an SEO app can affect performance if it loads storefront scripts, modifies theme code, or duplicates functionality from another app. The risk increases when several SEO, schema, or speed apps are installed simultaneously. Record your current PageSpeed Insights results, back up your theme, install one app at a time, and test your store again before keeping it.

What’s the difference between Plug In SEO, JSON-LD for SEO, and Smart SEO?

Plug In SEO is primarily an audit and diagnostic tool that identifies SEO problems and explains how to fix them. JSON-LD for SEO is a specialist structured-data solution designed to make products and other store content eligible for rich results. Smart SEO is a broader all-in-one platform that combines metadata, images, speed, schema, broken links, and indexing tools. Choose Plug In SEO for diagnosis, JSON-LD for advanced schema, and Smart SEO for everyday automation across several areas.

Which Shopify SEO app is best for a small dropshipping store?

Smart SEO is the most balanced option for many small dropshipping stores because it offers a free plan and an affordable $14.99 paid tier with bulk tools, structured data, image optimization, and page-speed features. If your budget is zero, Avada SEO provides broader free functionality. If heavy supplier images are your main problem, TinyIMG may be a better-focused choice.

Conclusion

The best SEO app for Shopify is not automatically the one with the longest feature list. It is the one that solves the specific problem holding your store back. Choose Plug In SEO when you need a detailed audit, JSON-LD for SEO when structured data is the priority, Smart SEO for affordable all-around automation, or TinyIMG when product images and speed are your biggest concern.

Before committing, back up your theme, record your current performance, and test one app at a time. Review every automated change, especially AI-generated content, redirects, and schema markup. Shopify SEO tools can remove hours of repetitive work, but they cannot choose the right keywords, create a strong brand, or make thin product pages genuinely useful.

If you are also preparing to launch a new or second store, use BuildYourStore to create a free AI-built Shopify store with winning products, high-converting pages, and a professional foundation already in place. From there, you can add the single SEO app that best matches your catalog and growth plans instead of rebuilding everything or installing half the Shopify App Store.
